Use a utility knife with a sharp blade for cutting parallel with corrugations, or a circular saw with a carbide-tipped blade for cutting across corrugations. Always wear eye protection when cutting.

Ondura Corrugated Roofing: How to Find The Minimum Slope

We recommend a slope of 3 inches per foot (3:12) or steeper for satisfactory performance of ONDURA panels and tiles. ONDURA should not be used on a slop that is lower than 3 inches per foot.

Where can I obtain installation instructions?

You can download a PDF version of the ONDURA Installation Guide under the Downloads section under Resources in the main navigation at the top of every page, or request one by email at tuftex-ondura@palram.com.

What is the recommended support spacing for installing Ondura?

The support spacing of 24” on center (o.c.) is recommended. In areas of heavy snow loads, spacing should be reduced to 18” or 12”. Do not use 16” on center spacing, as this will not align correctly with the ONDURA corrugations to give the panel support. Wherever extreme conditions are

How do I handle flashing at a slope change?

Flashing and solid closures should be used at slope changes. For more information on slope change, please read the ONDURA Installation Guide found in the Downloads section under Resources in the main navigation at the top of every page.

Will TUFTEX work in high wind areas?

Yes. In high wind areas, fasten the TUFTEX panels on every crown of the corrugations.

What is the cost comparison between ONDURA and other types of roofing materials?

The best way to compare costs for roofing materials is based on a “roofing square,” which is 100 square feet. Calculate the cost of material to cover 100 square feet, and then compare the costs. ONDURA will cover 100 square feet with 4.5 sheets.

How many TUFTEX fasteners do I use per panel?

8 ft. panel = 25 fasteners; 10 ft. panel = 30 fasteners; 12 ft. panel = 35 fasteners; 14 ft. panel = 40 fasteners; 16 ft. panel = 45 fasteners NOTE: All fastening holes must be predrilled and must be 1/8 inch larger than the diameter of the fastener.

Where do I position the TUFTEX fasteners?

In roofing applications, fasteners should be at least 1-3/4” long and placed on the raised ridge of the corrugation profile because water will channel into the valleys of the corrugation profile. The raised ridge is also known as the crown. In a siding or wall application, fasteners should be positioned

What colors do ONDURA Premium Series panels come in?

ONDURA Premium Series is manufactured in four colors - Red, Brown, Green and Black.

Can TUFTEX panels overhang the support structure?

What is the recommended slope requirement for TUFTEX?

A minimum slope of 1 inch per foot is recommended for proper water drainage off TUFTEX panels. A slope of 2 or 3 inches per foot will provide better drainage.

Which Tuftex product is best for withstanding extreme elements?

TUFTEX PolyCarb™ panels are made with a tough polycarbonate thermoplastic polymer. These panels can withstand surface temperatures up to 270° F and down to -40° F. The support structure for the panels must be light colored and well ventilated to prevent damage to the panels from excess heat buildup between

Install TUFTEX vinyl panels (SeaCoaster™) over a maximum of 24-inch span on center cross bracing. TUFTEX PolyCarb™ panels can span 36-inch on center cross bracing. SeaCoaster and PolyCarb panels all require 24-inch spacing on rafters. Be sure to check local building code requirements before starting any project.

Can Tuftex be used for a greenhouse or garden cover?

TUFTEX PolyCarb™ panels are the perfect choice for greenhouse and garden applications and are designed to withstand exposure to direct sunlight in outdoor applications. TUFTEX PolyCarb Clear panels are well suited for greenhouse use because the panels transmit 89% of the PAR energy from daylight.

Can I install TUFTEX panels over existing sheathing or roofing?

No. TUFTEX panels should not be applied over a solid decking. The panels need proper ventilation to prevent damage from heat buildup. The support structure must be light colored & well ventilated to prevent damage to the panels from excess heat buildup between the support structures & the panels.

What is Ondura?

ONDURA roofing sheets are comprised of 50% recycled organic fibers that are processed to increase durability, formed into a corrugated panel, and then infused with asphalt to create a weather protection barrier.

Which side of the TUFTEX panel should face up?

The TUFTEX material is no different on either side. When oriented properly for roofing, the edges of the panel will have a down slope. In this orientation, the panel corrugations will have ten crowns and nine valleys. Consistent orientation is important for proper installation.

What are the advantages of TUFTEX panels in comparison to metal corrugated panels?

TUFTEX panels will not conduct electricity and will not rust. TUFTEX panels do not have the sharp edges that are common with metal panels; therefore, TUFTEX panels are easier to handle, lightweight and easy to lift. Drilling the fastening holes through TUFTEX panels is easier than drilling holes through metal

Do TUFTEX Polycarbonate panels block UV radiation?
